There are a multitude of variations on the Shepard's Pie recipe - here's one more for your collection.
List of Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef; cooked; drained
- 2 cans of french style green beans; drained
- 1 can of Cream of Chicken soup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup french fried onions; divided
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Preparation:
In the skillet, over a low heat setting, combine the meat, soup, salt, pepper, 1/4 cup french fried onions, and green beans. When meat mixture is warm spread across the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 baking dish. After preparing the mashed potatoes, stir in 1/4 cup french fried onions then spread across the meat mixture in the baking dish. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese across the top.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until the casserole is bubbly and cheese is melted. Let stand for 5 minutes at least before serving.
